Rising Star Awards

Every year, at the Women's Bond Club's premier event, the Merit Award Dinner, the Rising Star Award is given to a nominee from each Corporate Member Firm. This honor is awarded to young women who are in the early stages of their careers, with 5-8 years of industry experience, that have already demonstrated leadership qualities, and are expected to be future leaders. The Rising Stars will be honored during the evening of the Merit Award Dinner in the following ways:

AXA Equitable
Kathryn Wienslaw

Kathryn Wienslaw is a Manager at AXA Equitable in the Strategic Initiatives Group, a group responsible for creating and implementing new ideas and strategies that accelerate revenue growth and profitability for the company. Kathryn directly manages work streams within large transversal projects in order to drive performance and achieve business goals.

Prior to joining Strategic Initiatives, Kathryn was the Senior Training Specialist for AXA Distributors, where she was responsible for the New Hire Training Program and other company-wide training initiatives. She began her career at AXA as an Internal Wholesaler on the AXA Distributors Sales Desk.

Kathryn joined AXA Equitable in 2004 after graduating from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a concentration in Pre-medicine.


Bank of America
Tais Greenbaum

Tais Greenbaum is a Vice President in Global Markets Technology at Bank of America. Tais has demonstrated an outstanding ability to understand and partner with the Global Markets business to define, evaluate and implement high impact strategic technology solutions. In her current role as a strategic technology program manager, Tais is responsible for driving a key division-wide initiative to manage the Bank's valuation of credit exposure.


Since joining the Bank in 2005, Tais has led or participated in a number of major initiatives including developing a strategy for Electronic Trading Services, a technology strategy for the Global Rates, Currencies and Commodities business, and a re-engineering of the Bank's debt cash securities' trade flow. Tais graduated with honors from Lehigh University, with a degree in Industrial Engineering and Economics.

Tais was selected as Bank of America's 2008 Rising Star as a result of the combination of her significant business impact and outstanding commitment to the Bank's core values. Tais has led and participated in activities including Bank of America's New York Women in Technology chapter, the Global Corporate and Investment Banking Division's Diversity Council, Team Bank of America's volunteer charity network, as well as the recruiting of technology associates at target universities such as NYU and Carnegie Mellon. Tais is also a role model for developing associates on her team and mentoring junior associates.

Tais is an active member of the WBC Community Outreach Committee and planned and managed this year's first mentor/mentee breakfast on behalf of the WBC Scholarship Program's Mentoring Committee.

 


 

Barclay’s Capital
Heather Hauck

Heather Hauck is an Associate Director at Barclays Capital. Based in New York, she is responsible for project management in the Portfolio Management area of Information Technology. Ms. Hauck is also a member of the Campus Recruitment Diversity Team, a group dedicated to attracting and recruiting diversity candidates to the firm.

 

Ms. Hauck joined Barclays Capital in 2001 as part of the Graduate Programme, the firm’s rotational program for recent college graduates. She rotated through two other areas of Information Technology and was involved in a variety of projects before joining Portfolio Management IT.

Ms. Hauck received a Bachelor of Engineering from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 2001.


BearingPoint Inc.
Kavita Nar

Kavita Nar is a Senior Business Consultant within the Financial Services at BearingPoint. She supports the Wealth and Investment Management Domain. Since joining the firm in 2005, Kavita has advised clients across a wide spectrum of business and technology industries including Alternative Investments, AML Compliance as well as Retail Brokerage Mutual Funds.

 

Kavita has distinguished herself at Bearingpoint by developing quality deliverables and lasting relationships with her clients and project teams, and by working with Senior Leadership to improve herself, her teams, as well as Bearingpoint. In addition to client support, Kavita serves as a mentor and leader for many within our firm including her mentor group, ensuring that they are successful in accomplishing their goals within the demanding world of Financial Consulting.

Kavita enjoys reading, watching movies, playing tennis, and skiing. Her success thus far at Bearingpoint can be attributed to her immeasurable commitment to the firm, to her peers, to senior leadership at BE, as well as to her clients.


Credit Suisse
Julia Reid

Julia Reid has a wealth of financial services knowledge, having worked in the industry for almost 7 years, all at Credit Suisse.  Julia graduated Princeton University in 2001 and after completing Analyst training, joined the convertibles desk in August of that year. She excelled, quickly sought responsibility and started covering her own accounts after only 3 months on the desk. 

She was promoted to Associate after 2 years, 1 year earlier than her peers.  She quickly progressed as an Associate and was promoted to Vice President in 2007, ahead of planned guidelines.  She is now clearly on the Director track.

Julia effectively manages her professional career, consistently taking on more responsibility and high profile accounts.  In addition to her responsibilities on the desk, Julia is the Equities team captain for Princeton recruiting and volunteers for the Student Sponsor Partners, investing both time and money in one student's high school education.


Deloitte Consulting
Jeanette Alvarez

Jeannette Alvarez is a Manager in the Strategy and Operations practice of Deloitte Consulting LLP, focused on serving major Securities clients. Jeannette has 5 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry, primarily in asset management and securities services. At Deloitte, she has worked primarily on large-scale engagements, including several major M&A, Divestiture, and AML Compliance projects. Her expertise includes organization and inte-

gration strategy, program management, and process re-design. Product focus areas include hedge funds, funding, collateral management, and asset servicing. Jeannette is a graduate of Brown University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors. At New York University, she conducted her doctorate and post- doctorate training, receiving a Ph.D. in Social Psychology with a minor in Statistics.


Deustsche Bank
Inna Okounkova

Inna Okounkova is a Director in the Asset Allocation Strategies group in Deutsche Asset Management. Inna joined the company in 1999 as quantitative analyst and became a Portfolio Manager in 2001. Inna has an MS from Moscow State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.


Dresdner Kleinwort
Madlen Dorosh

Madlen Dorosh is a Director at Dresdner Kleinwort's capital markets division in North America, heading a sales team distributing collaterised financing products to US and Latin American financial institutions. Madlen reallocated to New York in 2005, prior to which she was based in London, working in the Structured Product Marketing division in Dresdner Kleinwort, where she was distributing derivatives to Central and Eastern European clients.

Madlen joined Dresdner in 2001 upon completing her undergraduate studies. She is a Bulgarian national.

Madlen holds a B.A. Degree from Sofia University and a Master in Finance Degree from London Business School.

Dana D'Amelio

Dana is a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young’s National Assurance and Advisory Business Services practice. Dana has served the financial services industry for over eight years, and has extensive knowledge of the accounting, risk management, and reporting related to trading and investing activities of clients in banking and capital markets sectors, both domestically and abroad. Her clients have included major investment banks, global financial institutions, and other Fortune 1000 companies.

Currently, Dana is responsible for Ernst & Young’s market-facing initiatives in the Americas related to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Dana, a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of New York, earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. Dana is a member of the Ernst & Young Tri-State Professional Women’s Network, serves as a counselor and mentor to junior staff, and participates in recruiting efforts at local universities. In her spare time, Dana enjoys traveling, rooting for the Notre Dame Irish, and spending time with her niece and nephew.


Garban ICAP
Nancy Gligoric

Nancy Gligoric is Vice President and Manager at ICAP where she is responsible for MIS and brokerage management.  Since joining in 2003, she has pioneered structuring commercial analysis for executive management and has recently expanded her role to integrate branches across the U.S. and South America.  Nancy began her career in financial services at Commerzbank, followed by an investor relations role within the

internet industry.  She graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Florida, and named the top female graduate of her class within her major.


Goldman Sachs
Divyangi Anchan

Divyangi Anchan is a Vice President of Goldman Sachs in the Technology Risk Division. She focuses on Technology Infrastructure risk and assurance, and her areas of expertise include security and risk analysis for remote access technologies, networks, Linux and Windows platforms. In addition to playing an advisory role for technology risk analysis, Divyangi also brings to her role a unique combination of technology market and risk trends analysis and business impact.


Divyangi is a participant in community services organizations such as not for profits like FreeArts (http://freearts.org) and mentoring a Jersey City school for the FIRST robotics competition (http://www.usfirst.org/). She is an active member in Goldman Sachs affinity networks including Asian Professionals Network and Women in Technology, and she also participates in recruiting events on behalf of the firm.

Divyangi received her Masters in Computer Science from Stony Brook University and is part of the Stony Brook recruiting team at GS.


IBM
Stephanie Glenn

Stephanie Glenn began her career at IBM in 2002. In her first assignment at IBM, Stephanie worked as a product specialist with the Verizon team. Stephanie then moved to Wall Street as the Enterprise Server Manager for Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. Stephanie’s job was to develop customer relationships, understand requirements, and provide guidance and leadership to the IBM teams. Stephanie was acknowl-edged  with  a  lead  story  on IBM’s

w3 (intranet) highlighting her teamwork, strategies, and ability to execute.

In 2006, Stephanie extended her responsibilities to include all hardware, software, and services and was promoted to the role of Client Manager for Goldman Sachs. Her energy and diligence, ability to listen and assimilate new information have helped her make new inroads with Goldman I/T and Line of Business management, enhancing the partnership between IBM and Goldman Sachs.

Prior to IBM, Stephanie worked at Citigroup as a Management Associate. She holds a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and is currently pursuing her MBA at the Stern School of Business at NYU.


JP Morgan Chase
Alla Liberman

Alla Liberman was born in Kiev, Ukraine and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was 16 years old. Alla holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics from Stern School of Business of New York University from where she graduated in 1997 as a Valedictorian. Alla started her career with JP Morgan Chase working part time as a teller during her sophomore year. A year later she joined JP Morgan in the Operations area where she worked

until she graduated. In 1997 Alla joined JP Morgan’s Markets Training program and has been with JP Morgan ever since working in the Proprietary Trading area of the firm. Currently, Alla is senior risk taker on the North America Fixed Income trading team overseeing relative value trading effort in the US and Canada. Alla and her husband Stan have three daughters.


Lehman Brothers
Mindi Motko Marisa

Mindi Motko Marisa began her career at Lehman Brothers in 2002, as a trading analyst on the Fixed Income Repo Desk. In 2006, she was promoted to Vice President. Currently, she is responsible for the liquidity and financing needs of the firm’s hedge fund clients. Mindi is an active member of the Firm’s women’s network, Women’s Initiatives Leading Lehman (WILL), and a member of the Firm’s core recruiting team for Capital Markets.


Mindi earned her B.S. in Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University in 2001, graduating Magna Cum Laude from The Schreyer’s Honors College. In December, Mindi earned her M.B.A from The Stern School of Business at New York University. She resides in Manhattan with her husband.


MBIA
Jane Sun

Jane Sun is an Assistant Vice President in the Global Enterprise Finance Group in Public Finance at MBIA. In her current role, Ms. Sun focuses on analyzing and structuring of higher education, municipal and military housing, and healthcare transactions. Ms. Sun joined MBIA in July 2004 in the Insured Portfolio Management Division. Until 2006, she focused on the surveillance of existing MBIA-insured transactions covering investor-owned utility, higher

education, cultural and non-profit institution, and infrastructure and transportation credits.

Jane attended the State University of New York at Binghamton earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with dual concentrations in Finance and Management Information Systems. She is a CFA Level III candidate and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.


Merrill Lynch
Sandye R. Taylor

Sandye R. Taylor is Director and head of Merrill Lynch Supplier Diversity and Global Sourcing & Procurement Services (GS&PS) Environmental Sustainability. In the Supplier Diversity role, Ms. Taylor ensures that opportunities to participate in the procurement process are provided to diverse owned businesses. As head of Environmental Sustainability for the procurement organization, she is responsible for establishing sustainability initiatives related to

procurement.

Previously Ms. Taylor was a software commodity manager.
Prior to Merrill Lynch she was a manager for Telcordia Technologies and practiced law in the public and private sectors.

She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law and holds a BA degree from the University of Maryland. In 2007 she was named to The Network Journal's "25 Influential Black Women in Business."


Morgan Stanley
Annie Foster

Annie Foster is a Vice President in Morgan Stanley’s Technology division, working on a technology team in the Equity division. She started her career with Morgan Stanley as a graduate trainee in London doing software development, and relocated to the New York office three years ago.  Her experience ranges from developing and managing sales and trading systems through to post-trade allocation and trade reporting.   In  her current position,

she manages the global infrastructure of Passport, Morgan Stanley’s flagship, multi-asset electronic trading platform.  In this role, Annie is a key contributor to Passport’s market-leading reputation for stability.  Under Annie’s leadership, Passport’s trading volumes have doubled over the past year, during market conditions that have rendered several other banks unable to take on additional business.

Annie studied Philosophy at Durham University, and has a Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Manchester.  She graduated top of her class in both degrees.

Outside work, Annie is a keen musician and sings in a choir.  She has performed in concerts at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall, and at the naming ceremony of the Queen Mary II ocean liner.


Nomura Securities International
Briana O'Hare

It gives us great pleasure to nominate Briana O’Hare of Nomura Securities International, Inc. (NSI). as a candidate for the Rising Star Award presented by the Women’s Bond Club of New York.

Briana is entering her 6 th year in the industry and has been on an unstoppable rise since she started at Nomura. She started in the Legal department of Nomura Global Financial Product Inc. (NGFP) in May 2004.


Last year, she was promoted to Assistant Vice President and moved to a business development/revenue generating role in the Credit Investment Group (CIG) of NSI. The CIG group is one of Nomura’s main business drivers and is on the cutting edge of financial products.

Briana has all the qualities of success. She is not only bright, but has remarkable follow up skills and the ability to grasp details while recognizing the big picture. Her highly effective communication skills and business ethics has helped her gain the respect from constituents both within and external to her department. Also, she is extremely results oriented and has a proven track record of making good decisions and executing them with care.

In conclusion, recognizing Briana with this award is an indication of the industry’s commitment to quality young professionals that provide their best efforts to promote exceptional results. Congratulations Briana, we are all very proud of you!


NYSE Euronext
Courtney H. Leimkuhler

Courtney H. Leimkuhler is Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development at NYSE Euronext.  She is responsible for evaluating and executing investment opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, and for leading business analysis pertaining to corporate development initiatives and global strategic objectives. 

Courtney joined the NYSE in 2004, and has been actively involved in many of the transactions that have helped transform the New York Stock Exchange from a mutual not-for-profit company to a technology-focused, global exchange franchise.  Courtney began her career at Goldman Sachs in the Equities Division working on the business integration of Spear, Leeds and Kellogg and the development of the electronic trading business.  She later worked in Goldman Sachs’ Principal Investment Area.

Courtney graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in Government, and was an Academic All-American women’s lacrosse player.  She received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School where she was a Baker Scholar.  Courtney is a member of the Young Professionals Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters and has been a Big Sister since 2002.


RBS Greenwich Capital
Petra Wikström

Wikström is head of the North American branch of the Quan-titative Solutions team at RBS Greenwich Capital. Her role consists of providing cross-asset quantitative services to the RBS financial institution client base. She joined the team at RBS, London, in 2003. Earlier roles in finance include Quantitative Analyst at BNP Paribas, London, and at Svenska Handelsbanken, Stockholm.

 

Petra holds an MSc in applied physics and a PhD in fluid dynamics, turbulence, from the department of Mechanics at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.


Reuters America, Inc.
Rosalina Thomas

As Vice President for Media, Americas, Rosalina Thomas leads account management and sales for Reuters content syndication in the Americas. In this role, she is responsible for managing and growing licensing revenue for Reuters content and data across all digital and traditional platforms in the newspaper, broadcast, publishing and online markets.

 

Rosalina joined Reuters through its acquisition of Multex, a leading provider of investment data and broker research to financial institutions. While at Multex, she was senior director of business development and focused on developing distribution partnerships for fundamental and forecast data. Rosalina has worked extensively in emerging markets, primarily focusing on digital distribution of local news and investment data to U.S., European and Asian institutional investors and corporations. Before joining Reuters in 2001, she worked for Internet Securities, a Euromoney company, in the business development, product management, and a range of other departments.

She is a graduate of Tufts University with a degree in inter-national relations and Asian studies.


Standard & Poor’s
Shellie Stoddard

Shellie Stoddard is a director in Standard & Poor’s Financial Institutions Ratings. She follows the health insurance and managed care industry as a segment specialist. Shellie publishes analytic articles on health-related topics and contributes to criteria development. She is the primary analyst for the largest managed care companies, as well as a variety of other supplemental health, disability, and group insurance companies.

 

In the past, Shellie was a credit analyst with A.M. Best Company. She also spent over ten years at Equitable Life Assurance Society, including a position as product development manager for its major medical and disability income businesses.

Shellie holds a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Colby College and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University.


The Bank of New York
Priya Nagrani

Priya Nagrani is an Assistant Vice President in the Developing Markets division at The Bank of New York Mellon. As a research analyst, she has collaborated on a variety of strategic initiatives, including an Islamic financial product, a medium-term plan for expanding business in the Asia-Pacific region and exploring investment opportunities in India and China. Prior to this assignment, Priya was an Assistant Treasurer in the Risk Management sector.

 

Priya began her career as an analyst at JP Morgan’s Private Bank, and was later employed as a senior financial analyst at MGM Studios.

She is actively engaged in the BNYM Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) through her participation in its mentoring program and as a rotating member of WIN’s Steering Committee.

Priya holds a BA from University of Pennsylvania, an MIA from Columbia University, and served as a graduate fellow and member of the South Asian Economics team at the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia.


Thomas Financial
Traci Maybrey

Traci Mabrey is Director of Pre-Sales Solutions at Thomson Financial, an industry-leader in providing technology and information solutions to global financial services firms. Traci’s responsibilities include strategic client engagements with a focus on the solution design and integration capabilities for Thomson ONE Wealth Management, an integrated wealth management desktop.

 

Prior to joining Thomson Financial in 2006, Traci served as Vice President, NetExchange Content for Pershing LLC, an affiliate of the Bank of New York Mellon. In this role, she led a vendor management team responsible for third-party integrations to Pershing’s client account management platform, NetExchange. Traci began her career with Piper Jaffray and Co., a broker-dealer and investment bank headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. During her tenure, she served in a variety of roles including Assistant Vice President, Product Management for Internal Business Systems and Senior Engagement Manager for the firm’s strategic partnership with Thomson Financial.

Traci earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. She has served as a member of the SIFMA Market Data Committee and SIFMA Internet Roundtable, and is a current member of the Women’s Bond Club of New York. Traci has been a featured business technology speaker for several industry-leading financial services firms including: ING Group, Transamerica Intersecurities, ProEquities, and Pershing INSITE Conference.


TIAA-CREF
Cynthia Gage Kellam

As TIAA-CREF's Director of Interactive Customer Experience, Cynthia Gage Kellam leads, manages and inspires a diverse team with expertise spanning online content strategy, information architecture, visual design, eMarketing and more. Dedicated to providing exceptional online experiences, she drives a user-centric approach to strategy and design, and allegiance to tested best practices in execution.


Since joining TIAA-CREF in 2006, Cynthia has positioned TIAA-CREF.org for recognition including Dalbar's citation for "most improved" industry web site and The Customer Respect Group's recent designation of TIAA-CREF.org as an "Accessibility Benchmark" site. She served on TIAA-CREF's Community Service and Volunteer Committee and is currently helping to upgrade the Women's Bond Club of New York web site.

Prior to TIAA-CREF, Cynthia was at Medco Health Solutions where her work on the redesign of www.medcohealth.com and ongoing user experience design leadership was praised by the industry with multiple eHealthcare Leadership awards including "Best Site Design" and "Best Overall Internet Site" from 2002-2004, and the "best interactive site for Seniors" in the Spring 2004 by the World Wide Web Mature Media Awards.

Cynthia received a B.A. in anthropology from Haverford College and completed coursework for an M.A. in Anthropology from Columbia University; she considers user experience design a form of applied anthropology.


Wachovia
Caroline Mao

Ms. Mao joined Wachovia in July 2002 as a Program Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group within the Investment Banking division.  She is currently a Vice President in Equity Capital Markets playing a dual role of manager to the ECM Program Analysts in addition to being on the origination team for the Consumer Retail and Insurance group.  She also is part of Wachovia’s Corporate and Investment Banking Division’s Human Capital and Diversity Council   (“HCDC”).    The  HCDC  is

made up of 20 professionals within the Corporate and Investment Banking division, which meet every six weeks to examine diversity issues.  Ms. Mao graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics and a dual concentration in Finance and Legal Studies.
